Clothing is a major industry in Kampuchea, and the declining garment industry urgently needs to survive in the crisis.

At the annual meeting of the ASEAN textile and clothing association, Jabasi, Minister of Commerce of Kampuchea, said that in 2008, the export of clothing industry in Kampuchea was 2% lower than that in 2007.

About 70% of Kampuchea's clothing exports to the United States, 4% of exports to Canada, the rest mainly exported to European countries.

Exports of clothing to Kampuchea total export volume of more than 70%.

Due to the global financial crisis, especially in the US recession, most garment factories can not guarantee new orders, and the current orders can be maintained until March.

The crisis caused some buyers to give lower prices, so the production units had no choice but to close their factories.

Of the more than 400 major garment factories in Kampuchea, 20% have been closed, resulting in 25000 workers losing their jobs.

In addition, the suspension of bank loans has also caused trouble to manufacturers.

Japan may become an optional market for garment production units in Kampuchea. Although orders are few at present, Japanese buyers have already made some suggestions, which can help Kampuchea improve product quality and obtain orders.

As the largest buyer of clothing products in Kampuchea, the United States may take 2-3 years to deal with the recession. Therefore, it is more urgent for Kampuchea's clothing manufacturers to find new markets.
