Iran Wants To Expand Its Export Carpet To Russia
Iran sees Russia as a new target market for its hand woven carpet. "This year, Iran plans to increase its strength to promote the export of hand woven carpet for the Russian market." Moltag, a general manager of the national carpet center, said.
In an interview with the media, moltag said that Iran plans to expand its export to Russia by advertising, holding cultural festivals and exhibitions and sending business delegations. "Although the exporters of different types of carpet products are active in the Russian market, there is still room for growth in the demand for brand carpets in Iran."
He said that the Persian hand woven carpet was particularly popular among Russians at the twentieth Century furniture and decoration exhibition held in Moscow in December 2008.
He added that Arabia countries, including the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman, as well as some Central Asian and African countries, are also seen as potential export markets for Iran handwoven carpets.
